7 incredible places to explore in Munnar

Munnar in the Idukki district of Kerala is well known for its magical beauty and is praised as one of the most enticing hill stations in God’s Own Country. Forests, valleys and large tea plantations make anyone fall deeply in love with this place. Here are seven we send our guests to again and again.

Home of the Nilgiri tahr, on the slopes of Anamudi, the highest peak in South India. The park is open from the second week of April to the end of January.

4. The tea museum
The story of Munnar tea from the first estates. Note that it is closed on Mondays.
5. Marayoor and Kanthalloor
On the Coimbatore road: a sandalwood forest at Marayoor, apple gardens at Kanthalloor, and the dolmens of Muniyara nearby.
6. Kolukkumalai
Home to the world’s highest tea factory, with a view over the ranges as the sun goes down.
7. Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
Dry forest and waterfalls on the far side of the hills, with wildlife along the way.
